When Arizona's new AzMERIT test scores were released last October, everyone knew the scores would be lower than previous years' AIMS test scores because the new test was expected to be more grueling than the watered down version of its predecessor.

But that didn't mean every school struggled.

Some of the schools that were top scoring on the AIMS test made the list, but many did not, said Paul Johnson, founder of Maps & Facts Unlimited Inc.

Here's the list: http://www.bizjournals.com/phoenix/blog/business/2016/02/see-the-top-15-public-schools-and-top-6-charter.html?iana=ind_rre#g1

He said it was difficult to compare the schools this time around because the scores were very compressed.

With the exception of the top five schools, the remaining 10 schools all scored between 71 and 74, with ties at 71, 72 and 73, he said.

He said he wanted to map the top-scoring schools to show real estate brokers and their clients where they are located.

What he found was it didn't change much from previous years.

"If you look at the map, it's still gonna be in Scottsdale, the southeast Valley and north Phoenix," Johnson said.
